$10 million bounty for super-efficient cars
A race for super-efficient cars, with a prize pool of 10 million dollars. I know I can't wait to stop getting raped at the gas pump and make the switch to an electric vehicle for most commuting needs. ZAP ,Tesla , and funky-looking Aptera are already signed up.
Tesla's Roadster is supposedly going into production this quarter, and have already sold out their initial production run. The thing about the Roadster is that it's suppose to be a true sports car, with a zero to sixty speed of under four seconds. But the price tag of $98,000 dollars will keep most buyers on the sidelines.
A more mainstream option may be ZAP's Alias, with a zero to sixty of under 8 seconds, but a more modest price tag of $32,500 - to be ready for sale in the 2nd quarter of 2009.

Tiny death boxes
I dare you to take one of these little buggers out for a spin on I-35. If you're not smashed to bits, you will still be thankful for just being alive... every time you get out of the "car."
What are motorcycles ?
Seems to me these little death boxes would be even more safe than a motorcycle on the highway, with a steel roll cage and safety features at least putting something between your brain and the hot pavement. And that is the comparative crash safety tests that they have to meet.
Yeh
But at least motorcycles are loud so you hear them coming, unless you're like me, with the volume cranked up all the way and head-banging, driving with your knees because both hands are up in the air making longhorn signs.
Or you could just ride one of these
if you can tame it...
